Working Towards Our Future
Build Day has been a unique experience for anyone involved. Thanks to so many people, we have been involved with an incredible day of gaining knowledge. Build day has meant a lot to everyone in CTF, because not only were we building with tools, we were learning how to work as a team. We were constantly being engaged in what were doing and learning. We were seeing what we put on paper become a reality. We hope that more and more students get exposed to this learning.

QUESTIONS
Why Did You Pick Your Design?
Our design was brainstormed as a group, so we were constantly adding things to our design. Actually, our first idea was rejected so our entire idea was late and we had less time to brainstorm than the other groups. So our project was late, and we had no idea on what to do. So we went out as a group at lunchtime, and we saw a bunch of kids sitting in the corner, even though there was nothing to sit on. No normal bench would fit there, so an L shaped bench it was!
Did Anything About Build Day Surprise You?
One thing that really surprised us all was how many books we needed for the bench. We had a lot of books that needed to be sanded, cut, and painted. It was just so overwhelming!
Did You Learn Anything?
In the option, we learned so many things it's hard to say it all. We learned to work in a group, how to make blueprints, how to brainstorm, how to be more time effective, how to take initiative, and how to use power tools. Overall, we learned so many new things, and we've really grateful for everything Mr. Smith and Mrs. Adamson have done for us!
ABOUT US
The Navy Nerds have worked together to create a L shaped bench for nearly three months! We have brainstormed, designed, built, and painted our bench as a team. Most of us had never even touched a power tool before, and now we've built an entire bench!
